They spent over a year creating Alice, a vehicle that drives herself. &quot; It was a lot like teaching my sister how to drive,&quot; says Laura Lindzey, an undergraduate who had no programming experience when she started. Alice competed at the 2005 DARPA Grand Challenge, an autonomous vehicle race that snaked through 150 miles of Nevada scrubland. Despite a $2 million prize, students say they were more driven by the learning process involved in building a brain on wheels.</description><itunes:subtitle /><itunes:summary>Meet the bleary-eyed members of Team Caltech. Feynman loved puzzles, and in a storied career that spanned from the Manhattan Project to the Space Shuttle Challenger disaster investigation, was hired to solve them. In this episode, students and professors remember the man whose fearlessness, fun and irreverence took the stuffiness out of being a scientist.</description><itunes:subtitle /><itunes:summary>Perhaps no one embodies Caltech more than physicist Richard Feynman. &quot;A continuing, rolling seminar,&quot; is how one professor remembers the Nobel Prize winner, who played bongo drums, cracked safes, and challenged students to use intuition before equations.
